The labor movement and the Assembly of Catalonia ‘<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n CCOO de Catalunya commemorates these days the 50th anniversary of the SEAT strike and the occupation of the factory, on October 18, 1971, and pays tribute to the worker Antonio Ruiz Villalba, who died by the police during the repression of the protest at the Zona Franca factory. SEAT’s CCOO has organized several events, which begin this Saturday, October 16, at 9.30 am<\/strong> , with an assembly of the union section of SEAT to be held at the union’s headquarters in Cornellà.<\/span><\/p>\n On Monday, 18 October, at 10.30 am,<\/span><\/strong> a tribute will be paid to Ruiz Villaba at the exact spot where he was shot by the police, in the car park of the SEAT factory in Barcelona, in the Zona Franca. Then, at 12.00<\/strong> , in the Plaza del Moviment Obrer in the same neighborhood, a memorial stand will be inaugurated on the strike and death of Ruiz Villaba installed by Barcelona City Council, with the assistance of the Councilor for Democratic Memory, Jordi Rabassa. At 1 pm<\/strong> , very close by, in Carrer de l’Energia, 21, a mural about these historical events will be inaugurated by graffiti artist Andrea Betoy, as part of the actions of the Neighborhood Plan of the City Hall of Barcelona. The labor movement and the Assembly of Catalonia<\/em> , which evokes the relationship between the SEAT strike and other workers’ struggles of the time with the constitution of the anti-Franco unitary body, on November 7, 1971. Just after the inauguration of the exhibition, and together with the union section of CCOO of SEAT and the Catalan Association of Political Expresses of the Franco regime, in the same Assembly Space of Via Laietana will be presented the commemorative book October 18, 1971.
